Americans value contraception.
- 90% of Americans will use contraception in their lifetimes.
- 58% of women who use oral contraceptive pills use them for reasons beyond preventing pregnancy, and 15% use it solely to treat health conditions.
But the right to contraception is under threat from polarization and extremism.
- In 2022, 195 US House Republicans voted against the Right to Contraception–the pill, IUDs, and condoms.
- Extreme legislators across the country have introduced bills or other efforts that threaten our right to contraception.
- Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Supreme Court should reexamine the ruling that ensured Americans can access contraception for the past 60 years.
We can protect the right to basic contraception with simple, straightforward legislation.
- A bill has been introduced in the U.S. Congress
- Bills are being introduced at the state level across the country.
- This solution is drawing support from Republicans and Democrats, pastors and generals, big business and small families, married and single, young adults and the elderly.

Contraception is Health Care
We all know someone like Beth – someone who uses contraception to manage painful health conditions. But state lawmakers are taking aim at contraception across the country. Whether preventing pregnancy or treating a condition, contraception is health care that deserves protection.
FREEDOM
How can you distill all that contraception does for people in just one sentence? Contraception = Freedom.
Who We Are
Americans for Contraception Education Fund (AFCEF) was created to alert Americans about the current state of contraception rights and how they are under attack. We learned from Americans’ reactions to the overturning of Roe v. Wade that the public did not realize how abortion rights and access were seriously under threat until it was too late. We must not make the same mistake with contraception.
Through storytelling, proactive messaging, and organizing, AFCEF will educate and inform Americans at the federal and state level about policies affecting their right to contraception. AFCEF will also create an educational foundation around the importance of establishing the right to contraception.
